Instructions

Each group will be able to choose between 2-3 questions to investigate and present on the wiki. The presentations need to include the following:
  • A historical narrative of 1500-2000 words that explains what was happening during the time period related to the topic, the actual problem as it existed in America, and the opinion of the group on what was really happening in this situation
  • Images, responsibly collected, posted, and attributed
  • At least two web media tools to aid the content.

Grading

  • Historical Narrative 50 points. This will be graded based on the depth and clarity of the explanation of the historical context of the topic being discussed. While there will no official "right" answer to the question you will be graded on the way that you back up your opinion using historical evidence. In other words, you can not simply say that something is so, you must say why it is so and back up that opinion. You must anticipate at least one counter argument to your point and effectively argue against it, again using historical evidence.
  • Proper Attribution 20 points. All content presented must be properly cited using footnotes. All images must be properly attributed in a caption box and with a link back to the original image on the web. Sources of information and images should be appropriate and of good quality ie. don't take info from someone's 3rd grade web page on the colonies or images that link back to a page unrelated to the topic being discussed.
  • Presentation and Web Media Usage 30 points. This will evaluate your use of web media tools to aid in your presentation. Points will be awarded for creativity and daring. Your wiki page should also look neat and organized rather than scattered and difficult to follow.
  • Discussion one 15 point quiz grade per 8 weeks divided into 7.5 points each for the two that will done each 8 weeks. Every member of the class needs to view the projects that are posted and comment on the historical argument being made. You are not critiquing the look and style of the page, but giving your response of either agreement or disagreement with the opinion of the presenting group. Your comments must be appropriate and academic in nature. Remember, you will be presenting at some point as well so be decent to your classmates.
